If you decide to go this route, have your dermatologist demonstrate the proper technique for you.

Then there are chemical peels, which may be applied to the affected area or the entire face. Chemical peels range from light to deep with the deepest being quite painful. You will need to avoid the sun and allow weeks of recovery time for a deep facial peel. Peels are usually only recommended for those with deep scarring or severe acne. If you do decide to try a peel, you should start off with the weakest concentration available and see how it works before trying something stronger. As you can see, there are quite a few options when it comes to California acne treatment.
