Find Out What Causes Pimples
Most people absolutely dread getting pimples.Whether it’s one or several together, pimples have the ability to make the sufferer self-conscious and miserable. With smooth, clear skin as your goal, suddenly all that matters is finding an effective solution to your pimple problem.
It is important to understand what causes pimples before you try and get rid of them.
To begin with, it is important to know about the day to day workings of your skin.Millions of very difficult to see pores cover the surface of your skin. The small hairs you have on your skin surface grow up through some of these pores.Your skin’s natural oils are produced by tiny glands found deep inside these pores. These glands are called sebaceous glands, and the oil they produce is known as sebum.
The main function of sebum is as a natural moisturizer for your skin. It also helps to keep the pore clean by carrying bacteria and debris (like dirt and dead skin cells) up onto the skin’s surface where it can be removed. This is how your body naturally keeps your skin healthy and moist, by removing this dirt.
When puberty hits, though, your body starts producing lots of different chemicals including hormones.Unfortunately, both you and your body take time to get used to these fluctuations.Your skin doesn’t like these huge fluctuations and the general response is an out-break of acne and/or pimples.
Much more sebum than normal is produced by the sebaceous glands, due to the hormonal changes happening in your body.Your skins pores ability to get rid of dead skin cells can be adversely affected by hormonal changes. All of this extra sebum combined with a lot of stuck dead skin cells leads to a clogged pore where bacteria can cause this mixture to become infected and inflamed. These factors combined produce a pimple.
What to do for your acne pimples
Whilst your bodies natural hormonal changes will happen anyway, the amount of pimples you get, to a large extent, are down to decisions you make
1.Keep your skin clean – A mild cleanser used morning and evening will help keep your skin clean. Choose one that is made for the face, and never scrub your skin harshly; the irritation this causes can also cause more pimples to form.
2.Use medication – Improving your skins ability to get rid of dead skin cells and limiting the amount of sebum produced are the main functions of any anti-acne medication. Both benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are excellent medications and both are freely available.
3.Keep your skin moist – The use of a very light moisturizer helps prevent your skin from drying out, which in turn helps to prevent pimples.Typically, an oil-free moisturizer will benefit your skin most.
Once you understand what causes pimples it is much easier to understand the best way to treat and prevent them in the first place. Now that you have found the right information to help you, it won’t be long until your skin starts looking clean, clear, and pimple free!
